STORY
Founded in 2001, Rutabegga Productions is the ever-evolving dream of CEO/Playwright/Director, Marion Jacobs Burks. With an emphasis on relationship and the Christian principle of fellowship, Rutabegga Productions primary thrust is to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ through the arts, mentorship, and community building centered on love.
Every play, workshop, program, and class is strategically centered on growing both the actors and the audience. We thrive on creating the change that we want to see in the world. We're creating change and inspiring lives one play at a time.
Through careful planning & strategic considerations Rutabegga Productions continues to be a home-grown and heart-felt theatrical expression of God's love. Rutabegga Productions believes it is our social responsibility to share the gospel and love of Jesus Christ, build people and communities, and stoke the fires of creativity in the future leaders of tomorrow. From the city limits of Kaufman, Texas to the entire Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, we intend to create change and inspire lives one community at a time.

VENUES
Rutabegga Productions performs at a variety of venues around the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and its surrounding areas. We comfortably operate in churches, playhouses, conevtion centers, theatres, and even high school auditoriums. We go whereever the stage calls us and are happy to work in almost any enviorment to bring the magic of theatre and God's love to the North Texas area.

ACTORS
We hold open auditions for every production for North Texas area performing artists. We post audition information, once it becomes available, on our Auditions page. Everyone is welcome to audition per each production’s auditions specifications. Each performer, over the age of 18, receives a small stipend for their work.
Rutabegga has a live band for each production. Musicians are chosen based on the production’s Musical Director needs.

MARION JACOBS-BURKS
Marion Jacobs Burks, Founder, and CEO of Rutabegga Productions is an award-winning playwright and actress who studied at La Brea School of Performing Arts in California.
Before launching Rutabegga Productions, Marion performed in stage plays which include Little Shop of Horrors, Bus Stop, Practice What You Preach, and Hallelujah Anyhow. Those experiences ignited a flame that sparked a vision.
Her passion for acting and gift of writing led her to develop her own production company, Rutabegga Productions.
As the Founder and CEO of the company Marion writes, produces, directs, and stars in her very own stage plays. With hits such as “My Silent Cry” and “I Married The Right Man For The Wrong Reasons.”
She strives to give back to her community through her company by performing plays as fundraisers for various youth groups, scholarships programs, summer intensive programs, and church fundraising events.
Marion desires for people the be impacted by her plays which always carry a message of God’s love and unchanging hand.
